Hattah Desert Race - July 2011 (Page 2 of 4)
We arrived at the track early Saturday morning for the Prologue and junior races.
We set up our pit area unloaded our bikes and got into the spirit of the Hattah.
Along with us we had the Tassie boys from Pages Transport; Big Chris, his
younger brother Jono on the Green Machine (have a look at the cover of June/July
#40 Trailrider mag), and Robbie and young Mitch as support crew, all up 8 of us
along for a great weekend. We made sure our pits would be visible, (Stevos had
some good ideas about how we could spot the pits from the racetrack). Insuring
we would not overshoot them during the race!!!
After some race strategy was worked out it was decided that Stevos would prologue
for the Pony express team of Otway Off-Road. Stevos got off to a flyer over taking
4 riders during the 9 min lap, holding it pinned and only using the clutch around
orners. An more exited individual you would not see after Stevos`s sprint!!! He done
well and placed us in first ¼ of the Pony/Clubman class.
Chris had a good run, but the Green machine was nowhere to be seen. Where`s Jono?? Oh no Johno got a flat in the Prologue and would have to start at the back of the pack!! Well what sort of tubes are in the bike Johno? We all thought. Mate, UHD brand new just put in by the local shop..Jeez what the hell??
